Communications Officer
Assist with public relations, marketing, and organizational communications activities.
Develop and distribute press releases, media kits, and other promotional materials.
Craft website content, blog posts, and email newsletters.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective communication across all platforms.

On-Call Volunteers
Join our On-Call Volunteer team and play a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. You'll be responsible for maintaining communication channels and providing timely updates to program stakeholders in case of any unforeseen situations.
Be available on-call during specific program dates, providing essential support in case of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
Possess specialized training and background in risk management or related fields.
Respond promptly to requests and assist program staff as needed.

In-Field Volunteers
As an In-Field Volunteer, you'll share your experiences and passions with young men of color, creating a space of connection and growth in the outdoors. You’ll witness the transformative power of seeing themselves reflected in your leadership and empower them to explore their full potential. Our In-Field volunteers are essential in CTC’s ability to positively impact the young men we serve.
Lead day hikes and overnights, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for participants.
Facilitate activities and discussions that foster connection with nature and build teamwork skills.
Assist with camp setup and breakdown, equipment maintenance, and meal preparation (if applicable).
Be a positive role model and mentor, encouraging participants to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.

Youth Mentors
As a Youth Mentor in our program, you'll share your wisdom and experience, offering support and encouragement on their journey to success. Help them navigate personal challenges, explore career paths, and build valuable life skills. Witness the transformative power of mentorship and make a difference in their lives.
Meet regularly with assigned youth participants, providing guidance and support on personal, academic, and career goals.
Offer a safe space for open communication and problem-solving.
Help participants navigate challenges and build self-confidence.
Be a reliable and committed role model, attending scheduled meetings and activities.

Gear Caretakers
Our gear is essential for creating unforgettable outdoor experiences for young men. As a Gear Caretaker, you'll play a vital role in keeping everything in top condition. You'll be responsible for:
Inspect, clean, and repair camping equipment after each trip (as needed), ensuring it's in good condition for future use.
Organize gear according to type and usage, maintaining a clean and efficient storage system.
Identify and report any damaged or missing equipment for timely replacements

Safety Officer
Our Safety Officer plays a crucial role in empowering young men to explore the outdoors with confidence. Your expertise in risk management and emergency planning will directly impact their well-being and create a space for growth and adventure. Your knowledge and experience will help us offer a high quality and transformative experience.
Conduct risk assessments for program activities and locations.
Train staff and volunteers on safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
Assist our incident reporting and investigation processes.
Stay informed of relevant safety regulations and best practices.

Website Developers
Collaborate with the communications team to understand website needs and user experience goals.
Contribute to website updates, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance.
Utilize web development skills and best practices to ensure functionality, accessibility, and responsiveness.
Stay up-to-date on the latest web development technologies and trends.

Data Base Managers
Set up and manage our AirTable and Salesforce databases, ensuring efficient data entry, organization, and analysis.
Create and maintain reports and dashboards to track program progress and participant outcomes.
Develop and implement data collection strategies to capture relevant information.
Collaborate with program staff to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

Social Media Content Creators
Develop engaging content for our social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, website) highlighting program activities and participant stories.
Utilize creative storytelling techniques (photos, videos, captions) to capture the essence of our program and connect with online audiences.
Stay up-to-date on social media trends and best practices.
Collaborate with the communications team to ensure message consistency and brand alignment.

Videographers & Photographers
Capture captivating videos and photos of our day hikes, trips, and special events.
Edit footage and photos to create high-quality content for social media, website, and promotional materials.
Ensure responsible and ethical representation of participants in all media productions.
Work collaboratively with program staff and communication team to meet content needs.
Time Commitment:
6 months - 1 year (seasonal): Make a long-term impact on young men's lives (starts April/May).
Administrative roles: Project/event-based commitment.
1-2 outdoor events per month: Stay engaged and connected through regular participation.
Ideally long-term: Become a cornerstone of our growing brotherhood.
Training & Resources:
All roles: Virtual orientation (April/May) for a smooth program introduction.
In-Field Volunteers: Mandatory in-person overnight training for hands-on experience and team building.
Continuous skill development:
Outdoor: Hone your skills in climbing, biking, camping, etc.
Youth development: Sharpen your skills in emotional intelligence and positive youth development.
Supportive network: Connect with experienced mentors for guidance and support, regardless of your role.

Program manual: Your guidebook for effective facilitation and leadership (all roles).
